GLOBAL SPEAKING & EVENTS PORTFOLIO

Led by licensed architect and subject matter expert (SME) Stephanie Brick, one of the top authorities in the defense sector on how to build workforce resiliency through architectural design, the mission of Salutogenic Design & Consulting Group is simple: to improve occupant well-being through salutogenic solutions. We liberally share knowledge and resources in pursuit of this mission, and we work tirelessly to promote neuroarchitecture as standard practice.

Salutogenic Design & Consulting Group provides two primary services: design consulting/partnering on projects, and education in the form of lectures, executive briefings, team workshops, and technical trainings on how to improve occupant well-being using effective salutogenic design solutions at all scales, from individual rooms to full buildings. We offer services in all sectors and specialize in high-stress/highly disconnected environments, with our founder's portfolio heavy in the defense sector, residential sector, and increasing attention in the emerging field of space architecture.

If you are an organization or owner interested in salutogenic design consulting on your project (new construction or renovation), an aerospace engineering or space architecture firm seeking an expert partner, or an organization's leadership seeking generalized or technical training for your executives/workforce/facilities group, please email us here.

Featured projects: Department of War first green walls, first living walls, first virtual windows, and first room dedicated to service members' mental rejuvenation and restoration using salutogenic design strategies in the history of the organizations

Feedback from leadership and building occupants on salutogenic design initiatives and installed pilot projects led by expert Stephanie Brick:

TESTIMONIALS

"I have worked in these buildings for 11.5 years, and this is the #1 facilities/ environmental improvement over that time period that makes a difference to my day."

“It makes our environment seem less clinical and sterile, which makes me more comfortable being tethered to our buildings for an 80 hour work week. I can't take my work outside, but you can bring the outside to me! It also elevates my thinking away from ‘grey/beige’ thinking."

"Spaces without natural light and living things feels like a cell block. The value in adding these elements is keeping people from wanting to ‘escape’. I am more motivated to come in happy, dress more professionally, and enjoy my work environment with these aspects in play… It makes you feel healthier and in turn keeps you healthier. High Value!”

"It is a very small financial investment to send the message that leadership cares about the people - their psychological and emotional well-being and environment. It may seem trivial on the surface, but in my view it's one of the most impactful things the Agency has done to send that message."

"Helps to feel more connected to the outside world, even more important for a restricted environment like ours. It also makes the building feel more modern, and in keeping with new trends for facilities, contributes to creating environments that offer rejuvenation spaces allowing greater capacity for intellectual creativity and problem-solving."

"I feel like it moves us closer to some of the more modern architectural designs that private tech companies can offer, which in some small way can make the buildings and agency feel like a 'cool, hip' place to work. As a newer employee, I value having those kinds of modern things. I think it also conveys from the agency that they care about our general well-being, which is a nice feeling to have."

"It makes the building more attractive. People naturally associate attractive, well-kept buildings with competent, important, and prestigious work. So a more attractive building will help with recruiting employees and getting visiting partners and policymakers to trust in our analysis.”

A prism reveals a broad spectrum of color hidden within light. In the same way, our PRISM Framework helps reveal a broader spectrum of environmental factors that shape human well-being and performance in a built environment.

Within the context of an organization's culture, workflow, and habits, we initially evaluate and design environments through five lenses: Performance, Restoration, Intuition, Sensory experience, and Mobility. This is our PRISM framework.

P - Performance:

Effective solutions that enhance, not interfere, with the basic purpose of the space

R - Restoration:

Environments that offer mental rejuvenation and restoration through biophilic design

I - Intuition:

Spaces that are intuitive, navigable, and easy to understand without cognitive strain

S - Sensory:

Prioritizing multi-sensory environments that balance visual, auditory, tactile, and spatial cues

M - Mobility:

Equal access, both physical and perceived, to special features or unique environments

Interested in exploring how this framework applies to your project? We are glad to share a short overview briefing on salutogenic design and our process, tailored to your sector, to help identify effective opportunities to support well-being and performance. Email us here for more information.
